Heath swam in the ALLSTAR swimming meet this past weekend. You have to have a qualifying time to participate in the meet. He qualified in backstroke and fly, but got disqualified in fly, so it was ONE event for him. This was his first year to qualify. We debated about even going all the way over there with the whole family for one event. That Heath really wanted to, so we were off. He was seated 27th, out of 80 swimmers, so no expectations really for me. He swam the fastest 7/8 time by more that a second. He dropped 4 seconds. It was tryly amazing, a goose bump moment for Sonny and Me. Everyone went wild!!! Talk about the underdog!!

Never again will be underestimate the power of ONE/WON!!!!!

The Wolverine's finished the soccer season strong, with lots of wins and one loss. Coach Mears was the best, and we loved having the Grabner Gang to keep us company. Heath is hooked!! He scored goals, made new friends, and found he loves soccer. We can't wait for the fall season.

A trip to the hill country

There was lots and lots and lots of marshmallow roasting, tent unzipping, sand in the sleeping bags, fire building, hiking, peeing in the woods, hotdog eating, beautiful scenery and spring break family fun. I packed up these boys of mine and headed up to one of my favorite Texas spots, the hill country and Inks lake state park. Awesome week!

Sonny: ate all the burned marhmallows, tended a fire, took kids to pee in the woods, hiked with his boys, took care of us.

Kath: sprained her ankle, cooked outside,did not pee in the woods, watched all her boys have a blast.

Heath: Hiked, fished, peed in the woods (do you see the trip theme here),collected rocks, learned how to play horse shoes, burnt most of his marshmallows, learned how to build a fire and loved every minute of it.

Austin: lost a shoe, peed in the woods, roasted hot dogs, got really dirty and played hard in his favorite spot, outdoors and loved sleeping in the tent.

Conner: Wins the award for the best baby on a camping trip. Loved eating camping food, liked being outside, ate tons of marshmallows and never took his eyes off his brothers.

SHHHH!! We played Hookie, we did!!

We went to the Houston Live Stock show and Rodeo. One of the biggest and best Rodeos in the country. We had dippin dots, held worms, planted seeds, learned about the cotton gin. Rode the tram, looked at animals, watched baby chicks hatch from eggs, milked cows, went to the petting zoo, saw kangaroos, learned about honey bees. We watched the llama show, ewwwed and ahhhed over rodeo art and quilts. Bought Heath his first cowboy hat at the same store that Tim McGraw bought his the night before. We walked and walked and hand sanatized and just had good ole family fun.

Bust it is what Heath's soccer coach yells to them to shoot it in the goal and Score!! The boys love to hear it and yell BUST IT!! at each other, it has totally caught on. I love to hear the parents on the side yelling it too. Heath loves playing soccer, I may have lost my swimmer to this new found love. He has an awesome coach and team. He loves having his buddy Palmer and his new friends he is making. We are so happy we decided to play this year. Today Heath scored.

I was awake late last night listening to the comforting sound of Sonny breathing next to me and starring at the shadow of a tree on my bedroom wall made from the light of my neighbors porch. Listening and thinking how much trees are like friendships.

Trees like frienships are not measured in height, or stature, but in the growth of their roots. With a great friendship their steps with their feet to your front door when you need them are the roots and their arms extended with a hug, the branches. A tree could have a million leaves, but it only takes some sturdy branches and a few roots down at the botom to make sure that tree has everything it needs. When you get a few roots in your life, hold on to them them tight. For you are blessed.

It is true that some friendships are like leaves and are meant only for one season, it's knowing how not to mix up the seasonal leaves with the lifetime roots.

Conner is 6 months!

Conner officially turned 6 months last week. He is such a sweet addition to our family, we love having a baby in our home, his contagious laugh and infectious bright eyes bring such joy to all of us. He has been sleeping through the night for months, loves baths, rice cereal and his brothers. He rolls over and wants to be entertained all the time. love you CON!!!!!

Heath turned seven last month, we can hardly believe where the time has gone. We are so proud of him. He does well in school, swimming, is great with the baby, loves to play outside and drawing is his favorite way to spend his time. You can catch him most days in his pajama pants, he loves waffles, books and playing games with his family.

Sonny found this while mowing a friend's lawn a couple of weeks ago. He flipped it into this container and brought it home to show/scare his kids and wife. It was totally aggressive and would rear up on its back legs when you got near it. I told Sonny to take it to the woods near his dealership downtown and let it go, so it would be an hour away, my luck it would find it's way back and carry off one of my children in the night.

Last week we got to have our super adorable friend J and her darling band of blonde boys come to visit us from the other side of town. She got here, we loaded up her Suv and headed out for park, play and pals. We love hanging out with them and the boys have such a great time together. CONNER JAMES JACKSON joined our family on November 24, 2009, at 8 pounds 2 oz, and 21 inches. He looks like Heath did as a baby, we are really enjoying his sweet spirit and snuggling our newest little Jackson.

Dad....
hates leaving him, snuggles him every chance he gets, & says," I just love him."

Mom...
is so glad he's "OUT", kisses him every minute, & says, "He is the best"

is a huge help,loves to hold him, & says, mom I'm done,after 5 min if he cries

I went on the annual quilt retreat with my mom in Navasota at Camp Allen for the weekend. It is three glorious days filled with quality time with my mom, friends, food, fun and of course lots of quilting and projects. This year I cooked up a great project for the kids.

Austin was off to his first day of two's MDO with much enthusiasm. He had his new shoes, clothes and lunch box, knew where to stand for the annual Jackson first day of school photo. With out looking back he was off, leaving mom and dad standing in the doorway. To play on the playground, meet new friends, and have fun.

We had our second annual back to school dinner celebration. BBQ chicken, beans, salad and homemade rolls. We chatted about how just last year Heath was starting school, how his first day would go, ate chocolate cake for dessert, had a blessing from dad, and picked out the school clothes.

Feasting, Family and Fun. Yea for first grade!!!

Heath was not convinced going back to school had anything to do with celebrating!

DINOSAUR FEET

As most of you know Austin walks on the inside of his feet, or pronates. He has done it since he was little. There is nothing wrong with his feet, just a nasty habit he picked up as an early walker. Which has made walking really hard for him. He started out not even able to bend his knees very well, was for ever losing his balance and just plain miserable. Just getting around for him was really difficult. That's until the

Dinosaur Feet,as well call them, known as SMO orthotic inserts for pronators. Whew, that's a mouth full. They slip inside his shoes, on top of the sock and force him to walk on the full surface area of his little feet. I was so worried he would hate them, or be so uncomfortable. We ordered them, with Dinosaurs on them 2 weeks ago, and with in minutes, we could see a difference in his abilities and balance.

The answer to our prayers for sure!!!

We thought about calling them his special shoes, but that sounds so victim, so it's Dinosaur feet. He loves them and brings them to us to put on. He is a different kid!! running, jumping and in balance. We are grateful to Hope orthotics and his awesome PT, Michelle. He is getting around like a 3 year old, and we along with him, are so happy. He has to wear them all them time, except for naps, night or water. Not sure how long he will wear them, we are thinking a year.

"THAT STOOL"

I bought the cutest step stool from a garage sale last year for the downstairs powder room. You know the kind, red, sassy, and adorably perfect. I told Sonny it was for kids to reach the sink to wash their hands, or to step up to get water. Secretly, I just like to see it when I walk by. It would look delicatable in the boys upstairs bathroom,(matches my red and white stripped shower curtain). But the last few months, it has been used as so much more than the fascilitator to clean hands, and thirst free wee ones. It is out in the living room, dining room, kitchen, the stairs or any place it is not supposed to be, and everyday, the male Jackson's hear this, "Why, is this stool not in the bathroom, where it goes, patiently waiting to be thrust into action"?
The real question should be asked of me. Why, do I not move it upstairs, and why do I have the need to see that red stool. Who would think that glancing in on my little red stool when I walk by, could give me such joy.
I guess it is true what they say geogrpahy is validy, I guess, right? And, when did the craziness get out weighed by the cuteness. We all have adorable, sassy, red stools in our lives that make us crazy, but make us smile. The point is to just enjoy them for who or what they are, crazy or not. Or, where ever they may be.

SUPRISE BABY!!

We know how this aggrivates everyone, but decided we were up for a suprise. I am 24 weeks today, which gives us a Thanksgiving baby. All of us are very excited and can't wait for the baby. (Mom can't wait for the baby, cooler weather, and a smaller waist)!!!! I am feeling better, over the half way mark and not as nauseous as before. I am really feeling the effects of baby #3 on the body, but not too much to report. We are so excited and can't wait for Thanksgiving 09 and the blessings it will bring.

I just saw a kid running down the street holding an American Flag, flapping in the wind. He stuck it in his front yard. Suddenly today is more than deviled eggs and a day off from school lunch making. We are truly blessed to live here and have the freedoms that we do, so I think I will swim and eat and enjoy the start of summer, but with a more greatful heart for those who serve.

Heath got roller skates from Nana and Papa for Valentine's day this year. They are WILD!! The very retro kind for roller darby's, black with stripes, cobalt blue wheels and a stopper on the front. We took him to the school playground (equipt with short grass field and concrete covered area) and let him loose. He took to it quickly and loved it immediately. Sonny helped him get his barrings and then he was off. He only fell once, learning just how fast those wheels spin. He is officially a sk8er, and we are offically worried about all the ER trips. What is spring with out some bumps and bruises, right!!

Heath is growing up so fast, almost 6, half way through kindergarten. We enjoy this age, and all the quirky things they say and do. We love the things he pretends, stories he tells, the way in which he sees things.

Today for instance........

K " Heath what are you thinking about up there in your fort?"

H "I am thinking I would like a surprise party for my birthday, so let's plan one!!!!

K (letting him down gently). "UM, those parties are not ones YOU plan!!!!"

H "UM, I know that, you don't have to worry mom, my friends will be planning it!!" I have all the details worked out, they will hide, jump out and yell SUSPRISE!!! and then there will be presents and a really large cake and that's it. You will tell me we are going somewhere else. Of course, I will think we really are, although we are not really going where you tell me we are.

K "WOW, that's an amazing plan.

K "If you know about it, how will it be a suprise"???

H " Well, OF COURSE!!! just don't tell me when it's April, and then I won't know it's my birthday. The reason this is perfect you see, is because I don't know the months that well".

TOOTH TALES

So, Heath lost his tooth last Thursday, I mean actually lost it, both from his mouth and from our lives. That night we forgot the tooth fairy note, then Friday night, found the tooth in the dining room, but forgot to put it under the pillow, Saturday night, bought the gum for under the pillow, but Aus ate 3 pieces out of my purse, with the paper (mother of the year moment), Sunday lost it again, Monday night, dad puts the tooth under, and forgets to tell mom, you know where this is going, (once again MOTY). Tuesday night lost it, Wed tooth makes its debut under the pillow, 2 dollars, gum, happy Heathurs, gum all over house, mad mom.

Januray, left vacation for home leaving our families of the North and our beloved mountains

February, celebrated the love we have for each other and our kids, with lots of choc and kisses

March, house hunted with our dear friends, back from Jersey after 4 years of praying

April, watched our little boy blow out 5 large candles on his cake

May, cheered on our little fish while he swam across the pool each Saturday

June, decided on the ways to arrange furniture in two of our "new house" living rooms.

July, cried at the news of a new baby to be, and cried at the news it was not to be

August waved goodbye to our bright eyed Kindergarten Kid

September, renewed our faith in ourselves and our neighbors. 14 days no power (Hurricane Ike)

October, celebrated births newer and older with parties and candy

November, played, papa, party, Port Aransas beach

December we got snow and Martin in Texas for the Holidays.

As the year comes to an end, I like to reflect on the parts of 2008 that are our lives. I hope that in 2009 we

smile a little more, fight a little less, snuggle a little longer

play harder, love deeper, dream, believe, embrace what makes us, us

eat more vegetables, sleep in more, plant a gargen, find more frogs, skip, pretend more,

dress up more, embrace our talets, influnce more, serve more

AUSTIN TURNS 2 TODAY!! It is hard to believe our baby Aus is turning 2. He is such a charming little boy, full of spirit, a sense of adventure and sweet, sweet, sweet!! Heath brought home his first kindergarten readers yesterday. They are books his teacher has chosen for each student based on the sight words they have mastered. They bring them home every night, so they can practice the words and reading out loud with us. It was so fun to see Heath so excited to read to us. He sounds out the letters and sounds and gets so excited when he masters a word. We are having a blast watching our little guy learn to read. He brought home 4 books, THE FALL, THE PARTY, PET DAY AND SILLY SANDWICH.

We have ourselves a BOOK WORM and we are so excited about the gift of reading.

We survived our HURRICATION, mostly hurricane with a little vacation. No power, almost survivorish. We are 3 weeks post IKE and doing great. The neighborhood is getting cleaned up and people on with their lives, kids back to school. It seems as if september just passed us over. We have spent the day in quiet preparation for Hurricane IKE and his impending wernting on our Texas coast. I think of another day of disaster and can't help feeling a little sad that this day went by where I selfishly worry about fitting the car in the garage, enough water and if we will be hot for the next couple of days. Fire works tonight, flags at half mask, a prayer for families who have lost, and a quick thank you to our service men and women.

But as far as Austin is concerned, if you wear a backpack, bring your lunch, and wear real shoes, it's SCHOOL!!!

Austin started mother's day out today!! His teacher is so sweet, Miss Elkins, she is kind, loving and has the best smile. He cried, but did great. He loved carrying his own backpack, lunch, using the nap mat. Tried out the nap mat this morning, on the living room floor before we left, loved it, and new exactly what to do with it. He has watched Heath do so much, and now it is his turn and he knows it. His teacher said she would put the food they do not eat in the lunch box, so we would now how much they are eating, Lunch box empty!!!

He is growing up fast, and it is so fun to watch.

Heath studied about CORDUROY the bear's first day of school, during his first week at school. They colored worksheets and drew pictures and wrote poetry about it. It was so cute, here is the poem Heath did in his poetry journal and the picture he drew of Corduroy the bear. They have started math graphing and sorting, language arts poetry and sight words, and tying their shoes. Keep up the good work Heath.

My younger Brother Ryan is in town from UTAH and that means happy Heath and Austin. Heath adores Ryan, he is such the fun uncle, roughhousing, wrestline, tickling, checkers, coloring , riding around in the restored 57' chevy truck. You name it he does it. We have had a super fun time visiting with Ryan and we will miss him when he is gone. Thanks for being so great uncle Ryan. We are super proud of you and glad you are doing so well in Utah, we just wish it was closer. WE LOVE YOU!!!

KINDERGARTEN KID

LOOK WHO STARTED SCHOOL!!!!

Heath started Kindergarten today at the elementary school in our neighborhood, Dad and I drove him on his first day. He was very nervous, mostly about not meeting friends and not having his friends from his old school at this school. He started out with breakfast in bed.

then moved onto his new outfit, and then his backpack and lunchbox. He was off to school, his teacher is so sweet and I think he will really like her. We found his desk and name tag, put his lunch in cubby and we were off, no tears, or drama (I was referring to me and Sonny) and we were off. It was so great to see our little Heath on his first day of school. He is so ready to learn. We are so prould of the person he is becomming. He is intelligent, confident and yet so fragile. We love our sweet little student.

When I picked him up he had met a new friend, learned about the fire drill system, ate in the cafeteria and had a great day. Way to go Kiddo!!!!

TEXAS TREE TRIM

So of course in Texas we do everything BIG, you know live large. So when it came time to trim the trees, Sonny took hold in true Texas fashion. That means you don't hire someone, or use your gardening clippers, or just stand on the ladder. NO, you climb the tree, use the BIG saw and you do it all yourself, while giving your wife an heart attack. Needless to say the trees are trimmed and Sonny is not broken.

YE HAW!!!!

A handy husband is great on the checkbook, but can make you crazy with worry. Oh well all in the name of a slammin good yard right!!!???? plus, that is the best looking tree trimmer I have every hired :)

With one week left things in the Jackson house are getting really exciting. We registered Heath for school and bought his supplies. We got the lunch box and backpack and the school clothes. We meet the teacher on Thursday. We wonder what school will bring for Heath?? We hope a love of learning, reading and great friends. We hope he finds his hidden strengths, talents and enjoys a lifetime of learning. We wonder what the first year of school will bring. But, we can't help but wonder what the last years will bring. We came across a story on MSN the other day. It was a story about the most beautiful drives in the country. The second most beautiful drive in America is the Seward Highway in Alaska. It runs from Anchorage to Homer. This hwy is about 200 miles of the most beautiful and unchanged parts of this country. It is mountains, waterfalls, wildlife, glaciers, meadows, absolutely breathtaking. We have to take this HWY to get to Sonny's parents house in Soldotna. It is 3 hours of the most intense scenery I have ever seen . It gets prettier each time you drive it. We have driven it a million times, and never really appreciated it like we should. It was fun to see it and know that we have been a part of this amazing landscape. Even though it got second we think it is the best!!!

We are glad we got to be part of Alaska's frozen chosen!!!!!!!!

Ponytail challenge

THE PONYTAIL: EXCUSES! EXCUSES!

"My hair looks better up"
"I did not have time to do my hair "
"I was just staying home anyway"
" My hair is too curly"
"I was going to work out"

Whatever your excuse,ponytail, Clip or hat, you are not alone. You are among the large number of women "NOT DOING YOUR HAIR" you do everything else to get ready in the morning, but you are not living up to your hairs full potential. If you are like me, you have a thousand reasons why. But, it is going to end this week. I am proposing a challenge to all my ponytail enslaved friends. I Kathleen am accepting the challenge of not wearing my hair in a ponytail for one whole week. I am calling you all to join me, you heard me, rather read me. DO YOUR HAIR!!!!!!! Everyday all the way. Your ponytail can be one of the following, a clip, bun, hat, scrunchie, Headband, updo, twist, or braid. It has to go.

This will be very hard for me, as I think I have ponytail reflux disorder. I will blog about it all week, and want you to start whatever day you are reading this. Join me and then comment away..
