Weekend Recap

Great weekend, great time, and great weather. Let's see, we rode bikes, took a walk, redid the bathroom floor upstairs, played outside, returned the turtle to it's wild home, :) and :( !!!!!!! Out to dinner, cake at home with Nana and Papa did not make the banana bread, and enjoyed each other. Looking forward to the week. Happy Sunday!!

Weekend Plans

This weather is cool and crisp and the weekend is here!! I am looking so forward to the week's end and a slower pace, at least for two days. We plan to work in the yard while the boys ride bikes, take walks, out to dinner for the birthday boy, eat meals together, enjoy cooler weather, bake banana bread, finalize the halloween costumes, make a bat mobile, but best of all I get to spend some time with these handsome men

Birthday boy

Someone in our house has a birthday today. There was a bike, cake, presents, bithday dinners and six candles. Austin is growing up, he is funny, and stubborn and loving and makes us crazy and laugh. He makes our hearts swell, and happy and proud. We love him and the sweet little guy he is becomming. Happy 6th Birthday Little Buddy We love you.... LOTS Six of Austin's favorites 1. Eating 2. dirty little secret

We have a dirty little secret...... It's our shower, it's dirty, why you ask? It has not been cleaned in a year, what you ask? IT's broken. We have not showered in it for one year, yes 365 days of dry. We shower in Heath and Austin's bathroom, yes, all of us, no, not at the same time. We finally figured out what was wrong with it, and aahhhhhhhhh Halleluiah, it's being fixed tomorrow, but today we have this.

MOVI(e)ng the junk

We moved the old TV into it's new home in the back Den/Family room, we have not mounted it onto the wall as of today, next week perhaps. We took the old TV and TV cabinet to the curb literally. I love a good curb find (if you know me, you are shaking your head yes, she does!!). With the old cabinet gone, so are the drawers that housed the movies,games, DVD's and we were left with this.....

So we bought these, from Ikea and I went to work on this.......

and now they live happily ever after here.......

The Great Migration

We have a migration happening here this week... a furniture migration, a big one. It started with the arrival of the new table, and suddenly we had two grills, two tables, too many chairs to count and two Tv's and not enough house. I could not bare to part with my old table as I have huge plans to refinish it and use it in my dining room someday, so my sweet husband, had the idea of moving it to the office, and then the old desk went to hold the new TV, until it's housed on the wall. After three table moves, two TV moves and one completely annoyed husband later, we had it.

This must be the watering hole for furniture, here are two yes (two) tv's two stands, oh and the book case, you didn't think the boys that live here, you know the one's who don't save steak for their mama, could possibly watch a texas game, Hawaii 5-0, VEGAS and hours of mindless cartoons, on that old TV before the new one gets mounted to the wall this weekend. whew!! AS IF.

But I have been busy, with new furniture and TV, comes new challenges of what to do with the old, and where to put what isn't working in that room anymore, but we want to keep. So we working on moving and manuvering. More to come on that later. and then there were two...

So they say do something for seven days and it's a habit. Not sure,but blogging is now something I look forward to doing, as well as avoids dishes or laundry or the organizing I am supposed to be doing, That's for next week's post. I have lots of time to snuggle with this cutie now that the other boys are in school all day. I look forward to our shows, book reading, walks, laughs, messes and hugs. Love u Conner, love mom

Wreath-do

A holiday wreath redo, it was destroyed in a fit of anger, by one naughty red head last month. I gathered it all up from the sidewalk and stuck everything back in and super haphazardly to boot and I have a Texas size fall wreathdo. :) Happy Fall Ya'll!!

GORDgeous

Ok, So I am not over the book page decor look (remember the wreath from Oct 1 post) I decided to spruce up one of my nonflattering gords with an nontradtional, nonexpensive, and nonpinterest (I think) idea. (like all my non's) My house is gray,black and white with pops of color here and there. When I get out the orange and black it sticks out and looks funny, like I tried to hard, and bothers me. So I decided to make a change this year, who says you have to have black and orange anyway. So I got a divorce from the traditional Halloween colors and went "retroween" this year

First you need an old book (The Black Shadow (very appopriate) .83 cents from a thrift store) Paint Brush, Gord, Modge Podge

Next, an old gord, (mine looks, chewed up, spit out and booed off stage)

Next, paint the glue all over the pumpkin and cover with pages of book, working with thinner stripes worked better. Rub it all down, no rough edges. It will appear gooey, it will dry clear.

Last, let it dry REALLY well.

feeding frenzy

The after school rush, is never easy, neither is filling all those little boy bellies. Trying to come up with something new everyday. AHHHHHH!! Today Aus waited for Heath, Conner didn't nap (BOO!!)and all three had a snack together, they feasted on avacados, nachos and green peppers with ranch dip. Every one was happy and hungry. I am always on the lookout for healthly, interesting snacks to feed the chickies. Looks like today it was a hit! What are you fixin' for your famished folks?????

Office Depot

We don't have a designated office space in this house (insert sad face), something I thought I would never need. Never say never. So, truth is we (I) need one. We do however have a formal living room. Who does formal things in a living room anyway, waste of space, sorta.... We decided we could multi-task the space. We took an old sofa table from a friends garage. It serves as a perfect work desk for the computer, it has lots of light from the living room and whala..... An office is born!! We spend lots of time here, and the kids love the big comfy white (I know) sectional.

It's October.... The first day of my favorite month, I have a birthday boy, halloween fun and candy. The weather is cooling off and getting so pretty here. I have given my self a new challenge of getting my house in order, for my boys, husband and to better our family. I am pretty organized, but I want more time, less stress and to enjoy our home. SO......... To keep me on the right track,after all I get distracted by Law and Order episodes, or FaceBook, or just utter avoidance and a busy life. I am going to post 31 days of Jackson's home, life, organization and projects. The first of the month and a new season is a great month to start, and this goal/project could be scary, so Halloween time seemed appopriae, so here goes. Happy Haunting friends!!!
